Summer Session Give Away!!

SUMMER SESSION GIVE AWAYS!SUMMER SESSION GIVE AWAYS!

Summer is coming and I want to be creative with some give aways. What does that mean?

It means that 6 lucky families/individuals will be the recipients of a complimentary session that could include professional hair and make up for mom or participating woman! Tracy will select (2) per month for June, July and August! The sessions can be ANY of these types of sessions;

1. Family (with any age children)
2. Newborn
3. First Birthday (or other “milestone” session)
4. BRANDING or Headshot session
5. Women’s beauty session (not boudoir) i.e. having a milestone birthday (30, 40, 50 etc…), divorce, new job, or just want to celebrate “you” with beautiful portraits!
6. Maternity
7. High School Seniors

If you are interested or know someone who might be send them here and have them  fill out this form and send email it back. Tracy will select the families/individuals based on her needs for the session.

Expectations from Sibling at Newborn Session

Expectations from sibling at the newborn session!

I was so excited to see this sweet family back at the studio with their SECOND baby in less than 2 years!  It makes my heart so happy to have families return to me. And, to capture such a special time and being able to see their now “oldest” grow and see how sibling interacts with the newborn bay is always so much fun.

Anytime families schedule a session with a baby and sibling it is important that we have a chat before their session about expectations for the older sibling and of course the baby.  Any of my families that have had sibling newborn sessions with me know that it can be a bit of a circus getting those precious images. But they are SO worth it!  But that’s for a whole other blog post! 🙂

This particular little guy was a little bit afraid of his new baby.  He was interested from a distance but did not have ANY interest in even sitting next to him.  I have several tricks that almost always work but this little guy didn’t fall for ANY of them! LOL!  He was MUCH smarter than me! So- on the VERY rare occasion that I have a little one that won’t even go near his/her new baby we use photoshop! :). sibling-newborn-session-tgp-4

When all else fails

I LOVE that mom and dad can have their first professional pictures done and have pictures of BOTH of their “babies” in the same frame.  This doesn’t happen often (most of the time my “tricks of the trade” work but when all else fails I can resort to photoshop.

It is always best to do sibling and family first then the older siblings can leave with dad or another family member.

Then its time for “just baby”.  This little one was born right before Christmas so we had to include a holiday image for him.  He looks so sweet in this little Santa hat.

But most importantly getting those traditional newborn images is what makes mommy’s heart sing!  These pictures will be cherished forever and these babies will love looking at their printed images in their home for many years to come!

Newborn Photography – Worth the wait

Newborn Photography

This little guy decided to make his way into the world a little earlier than expected and decided to have a nice hospital stay!  BUT he was soooooo worth the wait! His little rolls are so yummy and those lips….. I loved each moment at this early newborn photography session. Early Newborn Photography by TGP

I love all his hair!  You never know how long newborn hair will stay but I was so happy he had so much for his photo session!  Especially since we scheduled his session much later than I normally schedule newborn sessions.

Newborn Session when?

Newborn sessions are usually scheduled between 7 and 14 days after birth but this precious baby was several weeks old before he was able to come in to the studio for his session!

Big Sister at his Photo Session

His big sister had a special dolly that she brought with her to every session (and still does) so this special giraffe will be what he brings to every session. I can not wait to see how he grows with this special toy by his side!

Early Newborn Photography by TGP

He is so loved by his family!  His big sister will be the best sister!  I can already tell how much she loves him! She was such a big helper at his session and always ready to take pictures with her special new baby!

Infant and big sister in photo session by TGP Infant and big sister in photo session by TGP

This newborn was such a great sleeper but I loved that he gave me just enough awake time to capture his eyes! He was so comfy all wrapped up and warm and was staring right at me!

I am always excited when a baby gives me lots of good sleep during their session but also a little bit of awake time so that I can capture them awake.  Awake newborn images are some of my favorites!

If you would like to schedule a complimentary consultation for a newborn session I would love to hear from you! Contact the studio at (727) 491-6476 or fill out the contact form.   We take a limited number of newborn sessions per month, it is really never to early to get your scheduled!

Tampa Family Photographer

OMG!  These 2 are hilarious! As a Tampa family Photographer I have been SO lucky to photograph them since the they were both newborns.  I don’t think we have missed even one year.  They are both crazy, funny and SO much fun!  After 8 years of following them through their little lives I have literally watched them grow up before my eyes.  It is fun to find new places to have sessions… we have done local parks, clearwater beaches, Tampa universities, the TGP studio and now downtown Tampa.  We just did a little story on their session from last year here.… My heart is full when I get to spend time with them and mom gets a break since I take them off on my own.  Their personalities crack me up and I LOVE that they know me and are comfortable with me.  There is always lots of laughing and giggles throughout the time we spend together and you can see how fun they are in this picture as he reacts to a silly secret his sister told him!

During the session, unprompted by me, big sister asked me to take a pretty picture of the flowers she picked…. how perfectly girl like and sweet…

Now for the funny part….. a little later in the session, Mr “C” asked me to take a picture of….

yes…. the ANT crawling on his arm! LOL!  TOTAL girl and boy representation there!  I am fairly sure that the picture of this ant will NOT be a large portrait above the fireplace BUT I bet it makes it into and album page because it is SOOO him and shows exactly what both of these awesome kids are like at this age!  And after all, isn’t that what portrait sessions are all about?

Limited Edition Mothers Day Sessions

Mothers Day Sessions!

They are finally here, the long awaited Limited Edition Mothers Day Sessions! I am so excited to see all the mamma’s, grandmamma’s and children and capture memories for them that will last forever. These sessions have been designed to be interactive and to capture sweet moments between mom’s and children. Moments that will be remembered through portraits that are looked at and enjoyed everyday.

These captured moments are meant to be professionally printed and proudly displayed for enjoyment. They are meant to make your heart “pitter patter” each time you walk by and look at them. They are to create keepsakes that will be passed down to children and grandchildren. They are special, they are priceless. They are for all ages from babies to grandma’s but they are for mom’s and children only. The goal is for all products ordered to be back in time for Mothers Day.Please don’t let this opportunity pass you by. If your babies are little you know how fast time goes and if your “babies” are big, you understand that even more!

Mothers Day Photo Session

Here’s how they work…

You will choose 2 dates.  One for the session itself (i.e. Saturday, March 24th) and the other one for your selection/viewing appt (there will not be any on line galleries).  At that selection/viewing appointment you will see all of your images from the session and you will order your products at that time as well.  You will be able to see all of the products offered at your actual session so you will have a good idea of what you would like from the session at your appt.  I will be there to guide you through the process and help you select the products that are right for you.  Click on Product Guide to view details.  There will be a few other products offered but these will be exclusive just for the Mothers Day Sessions. These will not be offered in the studio at any other time.

Limited Edition Mothers Day Photo Sessions

The set is designed to be light and airy with flowers and pastel colors.  Blues, yellows, purples and light greens would look great for boys and girls could easily wear the same!  Simple patterns or solids will show off your portraits best.  Email Tracy if you need more ideas or have questions about wardrobe.

The session will last about 20 minutes or so which is plenty of time to capture some sweet moments and classic portraits.  The viewing/selection appointments will be scheduled for an hour but will probably take around 30 minutes or so.  Registration is 189.00 and 50.00 will be applied back as a credit to your order at your selection appointment (as long as you order at that appointment).  If you have looked over the product guide and are ready to schedule your session, we are excited to have you and capture some very special moments!

Newborns and their big brothers and sisters

Brand New Big Brothers and Sisters in Studio (Tracy Gabbard Photography)

Photographing a newborn with a sibling (younger ones especially) is one of my favorite things in a newborn session!  I will not lie, much of the time it takes A LOT of patience and MANY clicks of the camera to capture a handful of sweet sibling photos but once they are captured, there is nothing sweeter!!!  What makes it so difficult to capture those precious moments?  Well…. let  me explain!  First of all newborns are typically photographed with in the first 5-12 days of birth.  Younger “big sisters or brothers” have just had their world rocked with a demanding baby!  After those first couple days when the newness of the baby has worn off for them, they often want NOTHING to do with this alien that just invaded their world.  Younger (preschool age) children can be difficult to photograph without the newness of a baby sibling SO throw that in the mix and you have a potentially challenging portion of the session.  I LOVE when the siblings interact with the baby.  These two below were “helping” cover the baby.  Sometimes encouraging them to “help” is a good way to get them in the same spot for a quick photo!

Newborns and their big brothers and sisters TracyGabbard.com

Newborns and their big brothers and sisters TracyGabbard.com

Trying to get a newborn to stay asleep while getting a preschooler to cooperate and “pose” is not easy.  Many times the best way to do this is to put the baby on something instead of having the sibling hold the baby.  Often young children don’t feel comfortable holding their new baby anyway and it can be dangerous as they are unpredictable and may possibly get up without warning and leave the baby.  I always have moms and dads helping hands close by for the baby no matter if he or she is in the siblings arms or in a prop.  Safety first, always!!!!  That is not to say that it is impossible to get a preschooler to hold their new baby!  It can be done but always safely on the floor and with adult arms close by to help.

Newborns and their big brothers and sisters TracyGabbard.com

And then there are always the “smiling” looking at the camera pictures”  Those are classic and always favorites.

Newborns and their big brothers and sisters TracyGabbard.com

Newborns and their big brothers and sisters TracyGabbard.com

I often think it would be funny to record the sibling portion of a newborn session!  With mom, dad and me working together to keep the older child in an area of the baby, and all of us acting silly trying to get them to look at the camera or bribing with little treats!  Maybe one day I will try to capture that on video! 🙂

Happy Mothers Day (tampa baby photographer)

(tampa baby photographer) I have the pleasure of photographing many mommies with their “babies” over the years and I am happy to share just a few of them over the last year or so.  I am so thankful to these mommy’s for choosing Tracy Gabbard Photography to photograph the most special times in their lives.  I wish I could post all the “mommy and me” portraits I have taken but I am going to spend some time with my “babies”!  Thank you again to all of you! New Sibling Love (tampa infant photographer)

(tampa infant photographer)  All my clients with newborns that also have young siblings that we incorporate into the session KNOW how it is a “family affair” to get a young child (3 and under) to cooperate with a newborn!  I have posted pull backs before of everyone gathered around the “babies” with treats to try to get the toddler even close to the baby!  It is actually quite funny.  We always manage to pull out a few priceless photos that mommys and daddys will always treasure but I had to post this picture of a recent sibling session.  LOVE the look on this adorable little guys face as we are persuading him to get close to his new baby brother!  Do you see anything else funny?  Look closely, there is a treat somewhere in the picture waiting for “pick up”… you know I am supposed to snap the shutter at the EXACT time this quick little guy reaches down for his treat!  LOL!  Cracks me up!  (I actually don’t think that he fell for our trick and never picked up that treat!)  Needless to say, there are priceless images of the 2 of them together but this one really “tells all”! Sleeepy princess… (tampa newborn photographer)

(tampa newborn photographer) This little princess was super sleepy and made her first photo shoot sooo easy! It was so fun to see grandma, aunty and daddy ooh and ahhh over her cuteness. There is no doubt she will be the apple of everyone’s eye! A little fun information for this first picture. Mom brought the sea shell and the starfish clip on the headband was what mom wore in her hair in her wedding. How special is that? It is so great when families bring special things to use in their sessions. Not only is it fun to incorporate personal things into a session but it means a lot to the family as well. Evenings with toddlers and young children….(tampa family photographer)

(tampa photographer) As I downloaded and scrolled through a recent session it inspired me to write this post on evening sessions with children.  As a mom I am all to familiar with “the witching hour” which I am sure most moms reading this know, that is the hour in the evening (it is a different hour for every child but usually with in a couple hours of bedtime) when your most precious, adorable, perfect child is MISERABLE and you are to!  This hour(s) creates fussy, cranky, needy children and this hour is very often what makes us moms count the seconds until bedtime.  Although my children have now outgrown this hour (yay for me!) I remember it with not so much fondness very clearly.  That is why when a mom emails or calls me to chat about a location session, I have a list of questions and a few things to chat about before we actually schedule.

As many of you may know,  location sessions most often happen in the evenings about an hour before sunset.  Depending on the time of year that could make the session start as late as 7:30 pm.  Can they happen during the day or in the morning?  Sure, however, the lighting is not as beautiful, the grass is usually wet (at least in the mornings) and it is often more difficult to find those shady areas that help keep your eyes from squinting in the bright sunlight.

So, back to that list… the first thing I usually ask is “How old are your children?”.  If they tell me that their child(ren) are under 5, my next question is “How are they in the evenings?”.  And we begin a very enlightening (at least I like to think so :)) conversation about evening sessions with young children.  I always tell my potential client that I will of course take their pictures no matter what if they think their family is ready for it but I always like to remind them that it is not a great time for children to be at their best. And we do always get some great shots but there is a good chance that they many not have as many to choose from.  Believe me, I have done MANY sessions in the evenings with young children…. how about 1 year old twins on the beach…. yea, i know, crazy! BUT, although VERY challenging, mom loved her gallery and it really told the story of how her family was at that point in time. She will always remember that time when her *babies* kept her on her toes (I am sure that is an understatement) and when she looks back at those pictures, I am sure she smiles and remembers that time with fondness.  You can see some peaks of that session here.

So… that brings me back to my recent session.  This particular mom and I had this discussion about evening sessions and one year olds.  In her defense, we were trying to somewhat replicate a session we had done with her older child at ONE at the park.  That session was great and he did just fine but as we know, every child is different.  So off we trotted to UT (The University of Tampa) and began our session among at least 3 other sessions happening there at the same time 🙂  .  Now, I love this location, it is beautiful with many options for backgrounds and beautiful light. But as I have learned over the many years of photographing children in the evening, this is when all photography “rules” go out the door and we just get what we can.  The photographer in me REALLY (I mean REALLY) wants those perfect pictures, in the perfect light, beautifully in focus with an amazing smile or an adorable connection between siblings or family and believe me, I try SUPER HARD to get those (I think that my clients will tell you this… we *play* HARD at our sessions :)).  We trot around the campus and we corral the kid(s) to my choice of backgrounds with beautiful light shining through the trees or landscape (my clients probably don’t even know that I am looking at all this but I am… as we walk around).  We get the child(ren) perfectly placed and I turn on my *amazing* personality (lol!) and back up just a little bit to get what I think I need to in the frame of my camera…. By the time I get to the place I need to be (literally a split second- I move fast :)) there is a good chance the child is either up and moving, crying, or giving my silly sounds and faces a completely “blank” stare (even though I must say, I am rather funny).  Mom and dad do *magic* tricks behind me (I will video this someday) but to no avail, there is no perfect smile or even a hint of happiness. Maybe we could qualify it as a cute *look* in this “perfect” spot….  but  instead he gets up, moves to a NOT perfect spot and gives the most amazing smile ever….

Don’t know who’s thumb that is trying to keep him there for a minute (probably big brothers) 🙂

IA5C0458 copy
tampa family photographer

Will mom care?  I have no idea, probably not … I like to think that in most cases I am the only one that cares about those perfect backgrounds (it is the photographer in me, I can’t help it- I am sure most other photographers can relate).  Moms mostly just care about happy children and precious portraits that will put a smile on their faces as they walk by.  It is just a “bonus” to get all of the things together in one shot.  Here are some fun “behind the scenes pictures from this session as well as a few “gems” so this poor mommy who has not gotten her gallery yet doesn’t think that there are not any other shots as well. 🙂

Untitled-3We ended this session with a cake smash (after all what is a one year old session with out a yummy cake to end the night?) and although this session did have its issues, from all of the balloons popping (notice the amount of balloons in the beginning to the end), to adorable but busy toddlers, windy, and of course mosquitos, over all it was a great experience.  And when I really think about it, almost all sessions bring their own unique set of issues whether they are in the mornings, in the studio, planned around naps or during the “witching hour”.  Is an evening session right for you if you have little ones?  You will have to decide… I think it went fine for this family!  I think they will be very happy with their gallery! 🙂  (tampa photographer)

(tampa newborn photographer)  Oooooo these cheeks!  I absolutely love a little bit of baby chunk, especially on those precious kissable cheeks!  This doll baby was a dream baby to photograph.  I think mommy and daddy got some good R&R during her session as they let me play with her the whole time and I loved it!  It was an awesome morning in the TGP studio!  (tampa newborn photographer)

(tampa newborn photographer) I am so excited to share the new TGP promo video for newborn’s!  A special thank you to  Freddy with Final Shot Studios for the AMAZING job!  I was dreading being interviewed and being on camera but he made it easy and smooth and I love the results!  I would highly recommend him and Final Shot Studios for any type of video you are looking for. I am planning to do a few more in the future to give more info on other types of sessions and the New Beginnings Plan as well. We had a perfect little model for this special day and special “shout out” to her family for participating! I hope this video gives a little insight on how a newborn session goes at the TGP studio.  Leave some love if you like it… if you don’t keep it to yourself LOL! 🙂

Beautiful beach maternity (tampa maternity photographer)

(Tampa maternity photographer) Wow!  We sure lucked out with beautiful weather for this beach session.  This special couple is TGP’s newest member of the New Beginnings Plan.  Can you believe this mommy to be is due in just a couple short weeks!  She looks so amazing and so happy (daddy does to of course but I know it’s no secret that is is “all about mommy” during this time)! 🙂  We actually moved this session up a day early and it was pure luck that we did since the night we had originally scheduled ended up being one of the coldest nights of the year.  But this evening was absolutely perfect!  (tampa maternity photographer)

(Clearwater beach photographer)  As often as I shoot on the beach, I don’t shoot in the mornings very often.  Why?  Many reasons but mostly because I am not a great morning person and morning beach sessions must happen EARLY for the light to be at it’s best.  Sunset is a little bit more my speed 🙂  However, when a family vacations in Orlando and travels all the way here to have a session with TGP… I figure the least I can do is accomodate their schedule so they can spend the day on our beautiful beaches after our session!  Although we had a fussy toddler that was NOT happy about the sand (this happens all the time with the little ones) and we did have some hot temperatures, it was SO worth it!  Not only did I get to meet and spend time with an amazing family but I got to help them capture what I hope are great memories of their time together on vacation.  I truly enjoyed our session together and hope to meet them again on another vacation! 🙂  (clearwater beach photographer)

Great Family Session (clearwater family photographer)

(Clearwater family photographer) This family was so much fun and their little man was “on the GO”! 🙂  He kept our session “quick and to the point”! LOL!  Both kids were full of personality and so much fun to spend time with (oh- and mom and dad were great to :))! Their session was a special gift from a family member, it is always a great thing to remember that  pictures are a gift that will NEVER be forgotten or regretted!  TGP can help you with the perfect gift to suit your needs. Now for the sneak peaks for this special family… (clearwater family photographer)

Windy but beautiful maternity session (clearwater maternity photographer)

(Clearwater maternity photographer) Ahhhh, the wind was in full force at this on location maternity.  I know we were all worried about how the pictures would turn out with this special couple in a wind tunnel for much of the session but we were able to find a few spots that weren’t quite as bad and even the ones where the wind was blowing turned out amazing!  I LOVE on location maternity sessions.  It is so fun to be able to incorporate the natural beauty of outside with the natural glow of a “mommy to be”.  I know for sure the couple is SUPER excited to meet their new baby as it has been a VERY LONG time coming.  I can’t wait to meet the baby too 😉  That will be their next session in the TGP New Beginnings Plan. A Blast of a Family Reunion (tampa family photographer)

(tampa family photographer) This family is so much fun and I love that they called me back  to photograph their whole family together again!  We did a session several years ago that you can view here.  You can see how much the kids have grown and there has even been one added! 🙂  It is obvious how much they love to spend time together and that of course makes my job not only easier but also so much fun! This is a large share but believe it or not, there are still lots of great surprises for this special family who will be receiving their full gallery in the next couple days!! So blessed (tampa newborn photographer)

(tampa newborn photographer)  Ahhhhhh… I really wish I could share all the images in this families gallery.  They are beyond beautiful.  This darling little baby girl was so amazing for her session and I have a feeling she will continue to amaze her family everyday for many years to come.  I feel so blessed to be chosen to capture her first year for her family and to watch her grow this year as her family has chosen to participate in the TGP New Beginnings Plan.  I seriously can not wait to see her at each of her sessions and hope maybe mommy will plan a couple extra in there so that I can see her a little bit more 🙂  Hint, hint, mommy!

Beautiful Maternity (tampa maternity photographer)

(Tampa maternity photographer)  I am so excited to show off these maternity images to one of the newest members of the TGP New Beginnings Plan.  Can you believe this mommy had her baby 3 days after this session and she was only 2 weeks early!  She looks amazing… I know, don’t hate her!  Just wait until I can show off her new daughter!  BEAUTIFUL and yes of course, tiny.. oh so tiny.  LOVED our session together!  For now, enjoy these favorites!

Ahhhh… sweetness at it’s best (tampa baby photographer)

(tampa baby photographer)  There are some things about newborns that just capture me. Besides their innocence, and tiny little features, I love their peeling wrinkly skin and their jerky, uncontrolled movements (also know as the moro or startle reflex) and even that little umbilical cord stump.  All of these things show how little they are and it is the only time in their life that these things will occur (at least naturally anyway LOL!).  These things are characteristics of a newborn and I love when I can capture some of them on camera.  I have a little series of the feet picture below (although I am only showing one here) and I must say it is one of my favorite pictures!  Anyway, a special last minute welcome to this family to the New Beginnings Plan.  I am the lucky one that was chosen when this family was left last minute with out a photographer to capture those first precious days of their babies birth!  (tampa baby photographer)

Family Beach FUN! (clearwater beach photographer)

(clearwater beach photographer) Not only was this family super nice and fun but beautiful as well!  They kids were just darling and I had a blast chasing them around the beach with my camera!  Beach sessions are such an amazing way to not only create beautiful portraits but also to capture timeless memories.  Making the session fun and interactive for the whole family is a great way to get the kids and parents relaxed and feeling at ease infront of the camera.  Of course we always work to get the classic smiling portraits but my favorites and many time my clients favorites end up being the ones that show true personality.  That may include giggling and tickling pictures or even a serious expression that tugs at moms heartstrings.  It’s those faces that only moms (and sometimes dads :)) know and love.  This family was vacationing here and I hope that our session together was a highlight of their trip and one they will not forget.  I know it was a highlight of my week! 🙂  Their next big challenge will be when they receive their gallery in the next day or so and have to make decisions on what to invest in! Believe me when I say it will be a tough choice!   LOVE this session! (clearwater beach photographer)

Breathless! (tampa bay beach photography)

(tampa bay beach photography) Yes, these two adorable twins left me breathless as I chased them around the beach! 🙂  But seriously, how cute are they?  These pictures are a true representation of them and their little personalities at this age.  They were so much fun and I hope to be able to see them again when they visit Florida another time! Party! (tampa newborn photographer)

(tampa newborn photographer) PARTY was what this ADORABLE little one wanted to do her whole session!  She didn’t want to miss a thing!  She did give in after awhile though and once those bright eyes closed we were able to keep her asleep for all the fun posing and props mommy wanted to use.  Thank you to this very patient family for the extra days waiting for their gallery as their photographer (yes, thats me :)) had some computer issues that held up their sneak peak and gallery! So many smiles! (clearwater baby photographer)

(clearwater baby photographer) This little bundle of joy was just that “a bundle of joy”!  She just completed her second session of the exclusive  Tracy Gabbard Photography New Beginnings Plan.  She was so much fun!  Her big sister didn’t get left out either as we captured some great images of her as well.  Check out the eyes on them… beautiful blue and brown, just beautiful!  I can never decide which of the 3 sessions in the New Beginnings Plan I love the best as they all offer something so precious and different as each one.  The newborn session is of course “one of a kind” as those first couple weeks go by so fast and are such a blur.  Those little toes and faces are never that little again (or quiet :)).  But the sitting up session is such a blast as they are always sitting up and full of smiles and sometimes they are even crawling (like the little one below).  And then there is the one year old session with the smash cake.  Now, there is NOTHING like a smash cake session!  SUPER FUN and SUPER messy! 🙂  I truly enjoy them all and can’t wait for her next session coming up in the fall.  Well, enough  chatter…. enjoy these precious smiles!
